The Cricket History Since 1918

Indian cricket origin

The overall history of the Indian cricket starts from the early rule of British organization East India Company. The Journey of the Cricket starts from the 1600’s when the British queen Elizabeth I gave the permission to East India Company to trade in the Indian Territory. The royal charter from Queen Elizabeth was passed to the East India Company for the domestic privileges and in this way the East India Company made its first appearance in the Indian region. Initially the East India Company was having the shred privileges in some of the major trades in India but later on The Royal charter made it easy for the company to achieve the 21 years trading monopoly for all trades throughout the Indian continent and in this way the journey of cricket made more revolution for it.

The company made its first location in 1669in Madras. And later on it acquired the Portuguese area where they established their important location Bombay and after that they managed to get the permission for trading near by the Hougli River and hence the Calcutta was formed! In other words the formation of these trade hubs made the early starting of cricket. If we look into the history of the cricket the first cricket was seen when some of the British persons were playing the cricket at Cambay near Baroda.

Later on there was a cricket club formed in 1799 in Calcutta which was having a major remarkable part in the cricket’s history.

In 1864 there was a first class match of cricket held between the Calcutta and madras team. After that there was a first class match held in Bombay known as Bombay triangular and Bombay four angular. In more apparent state the first class cricket was organized in Bombay in 1823 between the Parsees and Europeans and the Parsees won these match by 3 wickets. After these kind of series of matches the first international cricket tour from the India was gone to England in the year 1880 and the team was Parsees once gain as the team was very good in cricket hence they got the chance to tour England for 2 times.

Hence before the cricket’s transformation for the Indian population the British had made several transformations in the cricket.
