The greatest rivalry in cricket history will be between India and Australia. The best moments between these teams are memorable forever. In 1981 at Melbourne, Dennis Lillee bowled a half cutter which hit Sunil Gavaskar’s stump pad. Though the umpire gave Sunil a leg before wicket, he did not accept it. He along with his partner Chetan Chauhan walked out the ground angrily. The innings then started only after the Indian manager Durrani chauhan went to bat. In 1992, when Sachin was a new comer he took off at the Test at Perth. He came as the second batsman and became the second last wicket to fall and scored 114 runs. Even after running out of partner, he got 50 with 55 balls. This was commented by Wisdon ‘captivating and scintillating’.
The two topmost stars Sachin and Warne met in match in Chennai in 1998. They both tried to give their fullest potential to pull the other. In the first innings, Warne took the best batsman award while in the second innings Tendulkar was severe against Warne and managed four great sixes and 155 runs. The World Cup 2003 ended just as a dream to India by the game Ponting played in the finals. After Hayden and Gilchrist he came to the ground to launch his skill against the Indian bowlers. He scored 234 runs in 30 overs with the last 100 runs from just 8 overs with extra ordinary 8 sixes.
Patil started in 1981 and scored 65 out of 70 deliveries. In his next test at Adelaide, he hit 174 off 220 deliveries which was applauded by many cricket giants.1981 was another memorable year for Indians as Indians won the first test against Australia. Indian team was at its edge as Australian team was leading the series (1-0). When the request came from captain Sunil, Kapil ignored his illness and with the support of Ghavri and Doshi, made the last 7 wickets of Aussie team to fall for 43. Then the Series was taken over by Indian team. In the innings at Chennai in 1987, Dean Jones was fighting against the heat and heavy humidity of Chennai. After he scores tremendous 210 he was rushed to the hospital as he was suffering from diarrhea.
2003 Sydney series is considered the closest series that were played in the continent. India battled well and got the second test while Australia won the third test. India scored huge 705 by sachin scoring his double centuries. Steve Waugh with his 80 ensured that his team did not loose. Still there is doubt on which team really won at the end. The greatest test that was played in India could be the Chennai match in 1987. Though the result was a tie it had all fun that any tied test would have got ever. At Mumbai match in 2001, Aussie team came with the mood of breaking record and continued doing it by winning the 1st test. But the scene of 2nd test changes after the entry of VVS Laxman. He along with his partner Dravid scored a mammoth 376 and made India win against Australia.
